Ants and other foods | Luis Figueroa CARPE DIEM
For years, every last Sunday of June go with a group of dear friends to San Juan Sacatepequez in search of fungi and ants May. This year the experience was raised to the tenth power, because pinol lunch in the dining room of Mrs. Olga. What a treat!
This time I did not buy ants, but my nephew, Ale, came with a small, valuable cargo. pgpr emulsifier These ants, which in Colombia called culonas, should be thoroughly cleaned, then the handle in the pan and the butter and seasoned pgpr emulsifier with salt. I like to eat them in tortillas with guacamole, refried beans or. Already in the eighteenth century, Francisco Ximénez, translator of the Popol Vuh, referred to these ants in his Natural History of the Kingdom of Guatemala, pgpr emulsifier and wrote that the Indians and others are eaten roasted,

and say it is tasty.
Another exciting part of this trip is to purchase traditional fungi. The most coveted are the anacates that, since childhood, have always been my favorites, and then San Juan fungi. The latter pgpr emulsifier are known as fungi of the Caesars, pgpr emulsifier and since they are found in Europe and here, it is not surprising that these wonders were preferred by the Roman aristocracy and Mayans.
In the square and portals San Juan market one can also enjoy meat roasted armadillo and iguana and prepared with tomato sauce, delicately pgpr emulsifier served in corn tortillas. People there always is very good and has fun by the way my friends and I enjoy the delicacies that we offer. Oh and I almost pgpr emulsifier forgot that among the food that we enjoy in San Juan are also suckers, fruits that are not well known in the city of Guatemala and until recently I thought that only were available in El Salvador.

What good suckers! They are very common in my country Costa Rica. As a child I remember that moms are dying of fear because you could "drown" with seeds or stained pgpr emulsifier clothes, so I had to eat them with supervision
Carpe Diem means Seize the day and sums up my worldview. Freedom is the fundamental value that guides my life and my thoughts on Carpe Diem. I live in Guatemala, a country that is yet to be built and in which individual rights and equality before the law have a precarious existence. So, those are my favorite subjects to these comments. Still and all, this space exists under Article 35 of the Constitution of the Republic, and 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (case), pgpr emulsifier exercising my freedom of speech. I like cooking, reading and the company pgpr emulsifier of my family and its of my friends. pgpr emulsifier I also like to spend time getting to know my country and its people. At Carpe Diem-perpetrating politically incorrect space-share with my readers some thoughts and experiences in search of what is good, what is beautiful and what is peaceful. For freedom and reason!
